Acupressione

Acupressure is a "gentle" technique based on the principles of acupuncture which aims to regulate the person’s energy flow to resolve a wide variety of disorders and imbalances.

From the skin, through the peripheral nervous system, it is possible to influence the flow of energy that regulates the proper functioning of the body.

Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the best-known therapeutic technique of the Traditional Chinese Medicine, widely studied and used in the West. Its mechanism of action was explained through the methods of modern science: neurophysiological tests, scintigraphy, functional magnetic resonance.

Its use is currently widely accepted and

acupuncture clinics are present in public and private health facilities around the world.

Disease in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, disease is a disharmony in the flow of Qi that moves through a complex system of channels, meridians, which can be defined as paths with particular electromagnetic characteristics; pathways of information which, thanks to the integration of the

functions of the peripheral and central nervous system, are able to influence the physiology of the body.

Acupoints of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine identifies the

energy channels, called meridians, on which precise areas are identified, the acupoints.

These are areas characterized by different electrical impedance as compared with the rest of the skin surface. That is, specific access doorways to the internal organs through the

peripheral nervous system .

The stimulation of these points generates a signal aimed at restoring the correct flow of Qi which, explained in neurophysiological terms, generates a cascade of neuroendocrine events that affect the functioning of organs and systems and promote pain control.

Chromotherapy

Colors exert a profound effect on our biological system on a physical, mental and emotional level.

Cromotherapy uses the visible spectrum of electromagnetic radiation, colors, to support healing and wellness processes.

The effect of colors on human biological systems and health

Colors, as electromagnetic waves, interacting with human biological systems are able to:

  • influence the brain wave pattern by promoting a state of relaxation, concentration or excitement (alpha and beta waves - blue and red);
  • induce biochemical processes that lead to the regulation of the production of hormones (cortisol, melatonin), neurotransmitters (serotonin) and cytokines;
  • interact with the electromagnetic field and consequently with the function of cells, organs and tissues by enabling activation and inhibition actions.

Colors and medical applications

The application of colors in the medical field is much more widespread and consolidated than one might commonly imagine. For example, medical uses of electromagnetic waves of the visible spectrum currently include:

  • the treatment of neonatal jaundice with blue light
  • the treatment of psoriasis with violet light
  • the treatment of pain in rheumatoid arthritis patients with blue light
  • prevention and treatment of scars with blue light the treatment of anxious depressive syndrome,
  • eating disorders, and addictions with white light.

Colors and medical applications, PDT therapy.

An interesting application of color is

represented by the photodynamic therapy (PDT), developed by NASA in the 1970s.

PDT is used to accelerate wound healing and to activate intravenously injected photosensitive drugs that recognize and treat certain types of cancer cells. Photosensitizers are activated by a specific wavelength of light energy,

usually by a laser.

Sound therapy

Sound therapy harmonizes the human body using the vibration of sound and its impact on cells.

Special musical tracks have been composed for The Gentle Path. Each of them has a prevailing frequency (396 Hz, 432 Hz, 440 Hz, 528Hz or 741Hz), chosen according to the purpose of the practice.

The cells of the human body "feel"

the sound and its frequency.

Sounds are vibrations. What we translate into sound and music is a harmonious and concatenated set of electromagnetic waves included in the spectrum of audible frequencies.

The frequencies are perceived not only through the auditory apparatus in charge of listening, but they are also "felt" by each cell in the form of vibration.

Each biological constituent vibrates with

its own frequency.

Each of the biological constituents of man (systems, organs, tissues, cells, membranes, DNA, etc.) vibrates with its own frequency.

Analogous frequencies vibrate in harmony, creating resonance and balance.

The interaction between the individual frequencies creates a communication code based on assonance and disonance. Immersing yourself in an environment with a specific sound background, characterized by a particular frequency (Hertz), therefore results in receiving a flow of immediate

and pure information for the whole organism.

There are numerous investigations and scientific publications on the effects of sound.

Numerous studies and publications on the effects of sound and music in the treatment of many diseases are featured in Pubmed, the search engine for biomedical scientific literature.

Many hospitals are adopting protocols involving the use of music and sound, through specific frequencies, to relieve the symptoms of many mental and physical illnesses and to integrate therapies aimed at treating Parkinson's, tinnitus, cardiovascular diseases, as well as for pain treatment, and palliative care..

RELAXATION

Re-learning to relax is the foundation of the practices of La Via Gentile

The founding values of our philosophy are kindness , focus and relaxation

Values that foster positive feelings of humanity and compassion, toward ourselves and others, promoting improved health

and well-being.

As an antidepressant medication, kindness increases both the production of serotonin, the good mood hormone, and endorphins, the neurotransmitters that help relieve pain and reduce stress. Gentleness also helps to deactivate negative emotions so toxic for the organism.

A focused person is able to feel his or her body more and be more in touch with his or her own feelings but also with those of others; from this comes greater empathy and ability to connect.

Just like muscles, concentration can be trained. The proposed practices gently introduce you to the development of focus and concentration skills.

Re-learning to relax is the foundation of the practices of The Gentle Path, both in the areas of physical, mental and emotional health.

As we relax the body, healthy physiological changes occur: we consume less oxygen and eliminate more carbon dioxide; we reduce muscle tension and increase the activity of the parasympathetic nervous system, responsible for the state of muscle relaxation and regeneration.

Kindness is Health.

Kindness proves to be a scientifically valid prevention tool, both as a companion to therapies and as a catalyst for physical and mental health.

In recent years, various research centers have adopted psychological support protocols for patients based precisely on kindness, both in the field of oncological diseases and in cardiovascular diseases.

Gentleness also increases the production of oxytocin, called the love hormone, which aids in decreasing blood pressure and improves cardiovascular health.

Focus and Meditation as Medicine

Numerous scientific investigations show that meditation can have a real therapeutic effect.

It has been used for years in countless hospitals, as a method of reducing stress and supporting care and healing processes.

Relaxation is the foundation of Health

The relationship between mind, body and emotions is undeniable and very intimate.

If the muscles are relaxed, the mind is relaxed. If the mind is anxious, the body is also affected. If we experience an intense emotion, we perceive it both on a physical and mental level.

Recent research in the field of neurophysiology, endocrinology and immunology has shown how the mind, body, and emotions communicate with each other continuously, without interruption: the whole body is alive and intelligent and forms an information network in which every psychic and physical aspect are together.

Benefits of Kindness

Kindness can provide real benefits to our mental health and well-being. In April 2020, the Mental Health Foundation partnered with You Gov to conduct an online survey of 4,246 UK adults aged 18+.

It was found that 63% of adults say that when people are kind to them, it has a positive impact on their mental health and the same percentage agree that being kind to others has

the same effect.

Medicine and Meditation have a lot in common.

There are numerous studies that show how meditation is capable of producing neural, immunological and endocrine changes, favoring greater mental and physical health.

The interest in this science has grown exponentially in recent decades, especially after the encouraging results that emerged from the first studies. Numerous universities and research institutes have published studies on the subject: from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, which together with John Kabat-Zinn, promoted the first hospital applications of meditation to the University of Oxford with its Mindfulness center and to the Harvard Medical School. In Italy, among others countries, the University of Pisa promotes studies on Contemplative Sciences and offers multidisciplinary master's degrees on the subject.

Benefits of Relaxation.

  • Lowers blood pressure and slows heart rate
  • Increases blood flow to muscles and reduces muscle tension
  • Improves mood and concentration and increases memory
  • Reduces fatigue and increases confidence.
